Wee Forest Folk has created Astrid, Anders and Ingrid to celebrate the Petersen's strong Norwegian heritage. The Petersen's family immigrated from Norway in the late 1800's to a farm here in Massachusetts where they still live to this day - right down the street from Wee Forest Folk's current location. Willy has been perfecting his creative and artistic skills for over 50 years. Far beyond simply sculpting, Willy creates processes that not only add extra detail to our pieces, such as the realistic fuzz on the pussy willows, but the ability to scale up and create enough pieces to meet demand. It is difficult to see without holding these pieces in person, but Willy was able to construct the pussy willows fuzz to branch out as if they were real. These processes are completed entirely by hand, and require expert skill. The more we can create and sell ultimately keeps prices as low as possible.
